Un jour d’errance musicale, j’ai parcouru Deezer et ses suggestions et j’avoue ne pas trop savoir pourquoi j’ai choisi de cliquer sur I Blame Coco mais bien m’en a pris. Sauf que ce jour là, j’ai écouté 1 fois l’album, bien aimé et je suis passée à autre chose.
Ce qui m’avait échappé c’est que cette musique était rentrée dans ma mémoire affective puisque l’autre jour un court extrait à la télé que j’ai reconnu à la seconde (moi, le poisson rouge par excellence) m’a redonné envie d’écouter et c’est à ce moment là seulement que j’ai compris que j’étais raide fan de TOUT l’album.

Ça aussi c’est super rare, un album où tout est tellement bon qu’il m’est impossible de dire quel titre je préfère.
In Spirit Golden, Quicker, Summer Rain, It’s About To Get Worse… je les connais déjà tous par coeur (mélodiquement, je retiens jamais les paroles grrr) et je ne m’en lasse pas. Inutile de dire que je vais courir acheter l’album (et potasser les paroles ^^).

Si ça vous rappelle quelque chose c’est normal. Coco, c’est un peu, beaucoup, complètement même, la fille de Sting, le Sting de The Police oui oui (et tout le reste de la famille est artiste, les chiens font pas des chats).
On sent clairement l’influence et en même temps c’est terriblement actuel, et doux, et péchu, et subtil. Bref canon!

Et puis l’autre jour un album m’interpelle en home de Deezer (à qui je reste fidèle malgré l’évolution marketing plus ou moins heureuse, faut bien vivre hein).
Un mec avec un chapeau melon, une pipe, un noeud-pap’ et un chien dans un bain moussant, voilà donc la pochette d’album qui m’a donné envie de cliquer pour voir ce que c’était, et puis The Divine Comedy ça sonnait comme un truc susceptible de me plaire.

Et bien c’était super bien vu, j’écoute Bang Goes the Knighthood en boucle depuis, et pourtant ce n’est pas mon genre d’écouter en boucle mais il se trouve que cette pop baroque convient parfaitement à mon activité fort studieuse du moment : quelque chose de léger, pas envahissant et pourtant pas ennuyeux 2 secondes. C’est frais, poétique, riche et puissant tout en restant aérien.

Et puis en me préparant à écrire cet article, j’ai réalisé que ce groupe (dont l’âme est le fondateur et seul membre constant Neil Hannon) existe depuis des lustres – 1989 plus exactement. J’ai donc entrepris d’écouter tout ce que je pouvais écouter de cette Comedy sur internet et grâce à Deezer j’ai pu remonter jusqu’en 1993 ce qui est déjà pas mal.

Et bien je vous invite à TOUT  écouter, parce que laissez moi vous dire que chaque album recèle de trésors musicaux, comme Tonight we fly sur l’album Promenade de 1994, une balade enjouée qui fait décoller ou Sunrise sur l’album Fin de siècle de 1998, ou encore la touchante A lady of certain age sur l’album Victory for The Comic Muse de 2006 album et je serais tentée de dire que j’aime tout l’album Libération de 1993.
Dans tout ça il y a de nombreux moments riches et jubilatoires, on ne peut s’empêcher d’y voir un peu de Queen et de ce je-ne-sais-quoi délicieusement retro. Quoiqu’il en soit ça donne envie d’avoir la discographie entière ^^.

Une chose logique donc, difficile de choisir 1 seule morceau à mettre en avant ici. Le dernier (et 10ème !) album est excellent en tout point dès le 1er morceau – mais encore peu illustré en vidéo sur le net. Je l’ai vu ce w-e à la fnac en prix vert avec des bonus tracks live d’ailleurs et je crois que je ne vais pas résister beaucoup plus longtemps ^^.

Je me note aussi de surveiller leur prochain passage sur Paris, si possible avec un orchestre philharmonique comme ils avaient fait précédemment parce que ça a juste l’air énorme, n’est-il pas?

Cette chanson qui me trotte dans la tête c’est In for the Kill de La Roux, une anglaise (bon en fait ils sont 2 mais l’autre se cache) qui déboite et se fait entendre un peu partout depuis fin 2008.
Son truc c’est ce petit soupçon 80’s qui fonctionne à la perfection avec l’électro teintée de pop anglaise. Y’a pas à dire j’adore, plus particulièrement ce titre mais le reste aussi est plus que bon.

On aime hein, peut être moins la coupe de cheveux, quoique à elle ça lui va bien – moi on a compris no way – par contre moi, je danse version années 80 dessus et cétrobon :p .

En tout cas point besoin d’avoir l’allure garçonne pour chanter comme des fous, alors voici les paroles de In for the kill (source)

Cette fois-ci c’est une pub pour Kenzo Power, visiblement un nouveau parfum pour homme (va falloir que j’aille sentir ça en plus le flacon est super joli), et chacun sait que Kenzo a toujours une identité plus que soignée et délicate et je ne pense pas avoir été la seule à m’être laissée bercer par la musique de leur précédente pub.
D’ailleurs prenez le temps de faire un tour sur le site qui s’est vu attribué une jolie bande son dans le même esprit de mon titre coup de coeur du jour et qui présente entre autres les films publicitaires tout en sensualité.

Petits fourmillements à l’intérieur de moi, signe de coup de coeur musical, et hop ni une ni deux je repère l’annonceur et je cherche sur le divin Google (oui j’aime Google et j’assume) « musique pub Kenzo Power » et oh bonheur je trouve direct : c’est donc You cut her hair de Tom McRae.

Bon moi je sais pas vous mais je ne connaissais absolument pas ce Tom McRae, chanteur anglais (et oui encore un, que voulez-vous ils sont bons) qui chante des trucs aussi tristes (prévoyez des mouchoirs pas loin) que James Blunt mais en version moins « commercial ».
En parcourant son myspace j’ai craqué sur un autre titre A&B song, en live elle arrache le bide! Bon je ne résiste pas à mettre le clip comme on ne peut pas linker un titre d’une playlist myspace.

Mais revenons à nos moutons!
Le titre You cut her hair date (2000 !!) mais je suis heureuse de le découvrir même super à la bourre – merci Kenzooooo ^^. J’adore le ton mineur et les harmonies, brrr ça me met des frissons partout.
